The story behind the image

My mother had always been attracted to art and artworks as her parents had collected a few paintings of artists living in Northern Germany. In the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s she created a number of paintings herself, which I inherited after her death.

Today I share another one that got lost over time. All I have is this reproduction of the oil painting. It is colorful and shows an abstract landscape in Southern Europe. It could be imagined, it could be real – I can’t say. It might be in France which had been a dream destination for her, a dream that she realized regularly since the late 1980s.

I do like the abstract interpretation of the landscape and the strong colors. Probably one of her best paintings.

Love that image, even if it is just a reproduction.
