The story behind the image
A two-week trip to the beautiful Spanish island of Tenerife offered plenty of photo opportunities. In November it was still warm enough to go to the beach, but as the island sits unprotected in the Atlantic Ocean, there can always be strong winds. No wonder that it is a paradise for windsurfers.
This windsurfer practiced loopings in front of the Playa Grande of Los Abrigos. It was exciting to see him speeding across the water and then almost effortlessly get his board out of the water. I put the camera to burst mode and captured a sequence. This image froze the action while he was exactly at the top of the looping.
I still remember how strong the wind was – too strong for us! After about 20 minutes we decided to leave the beach again and spend the rest of the day at the pool.
