The story behind the image

I need to reduce my camera collection. So, here is another beautiful babe for sale.

Here’s what you get:

  • Used Kodak Retinette 1B (Typ 037), a 35mm viewfinder camera with Rodenstock Reomar 1:2.8/45mm lens and matching brown leather case.
  • Serial number 136980 indicates a manufacturing date around 1960.
  • The camera has been used and shows signs of use.
  • The integrated exposure meter works, and the needle in the viewfinder moves smoothly and returns plausible exposure values.
  • The shutter releases smoothly, and from the sound of it, it seems to work OK.
  • The film transport works.
  • Matching original leather case from Kodak with neck strap.

Sadly, I cannot say whether it works correctly. The previous owner did some test shots (about a year ago) and claimed that it was working OK. And yes, from the sound and feel, I think the shutter works fine. Pressing the release I hear the soft, faint click we all love so much when shooting with old cameras! I did not have the time for a test shooting with film, though, because a Type 045 crossed my way, and THAT was the camera I was looking for (because that one was my first real camera in my youth).

It’s a beautiful camera that allows you to travel back in time to enjoy the photographic experience of the early 1960s. It makes a beautiful photo subject, too, and is also suitable for getting started in analogue photography.

Asking price: 35 Euro.

Attention: This is a private sale, and it is a camera that is roughly 65 years old. I cannot guarantee that it will work. Therefore: this camera is sold “as is”, i.e. no guarantee, no returns, no exchange, no technical support.

Shipping possible. The buyer pays shipment costs from Germany.
