The story behind the image
Before finally heading to Port Hardy at the northern tip of Vancouver Island, we stayed for a night in Campbell River. And it was beautiful. The Oceanfront B&B, our accommodation for the night, provided excellent views across the narrow Strait of Georgia. From our private patio we could even watch a cruise ship on its way to the North.
My photo shows the view from the patio in the late afternoon. The air was clean and tasty, and the sun casted some long shadows already. The pier is the Discovery Fishing Pier, which sits next to a small harbour with a few shops and restaurants. We dined at the Café Beehive, but it seems to have been closed permanently.
Campbell River – well worth a stopover on your way to the rural north.
