The story behind the image
Our three week trip to British Columbia and Alberta was slowly nearing its end. For one more night we’d be staying outside of Vancouver. In Clinton we took Highway 99 all the way down to Squamish where we intended to stay. The drive was about four hours net, i.e. without stops. But we stopped often to admire the vast beauty of the region, e.g. at Lake Seton, at the Lower Joffre Lake, and at Duffey Lake pictured above.
The lake sits right next to the highway so it was a welcome stopover. I was amazed by the logjam – created by drift wood – at the northern end of the lake. My romantic side would like to believe that it was built by beavers, but my rational side tells me it wasn’t.
Anyway, the weather was fantastic, and the experience was just another proof point that British Columbia is ultimately beautiful.
