The story behind the image

In 2004 we traveled Switzerland for a week. We started in Zürich, made a stop in Bern to visit some friends, and concluded the trip in Luzern.

Luzern is a very old town located at the Vierwaldstätter See. With roughly 60,000 inhabitants it is one of the larger cities in Switzerland. The river Reuss flows gently through the city passing two wooden bridges on its way to the lake.

This image shows the view across the lake, from the short pier at the Brunnen Kurplatz. The steamboat is the Unterwalden which was built in 1902. Wikipedia knows a lot more (in German.) The building behind the boat (on the left) is the central station of Luzern.

Nice.
