The story behind the image
A strong wind was blowing when we were exploring the northern part of the Isle of Skye in Scotland but this did not stop us from visiting The Quiraing, a fascinating natural rock formation with exceptional panorama views.
Just west of Staffin, we strongly recommend to leave the A855 and take the shortcut to Uig. You’ll directly pass the upper car park which is the starting point for a short hike. It follows an almost horizontal path, so you won’t have to climb or decend a lot.
Having said that, you should still have at least some basic hiking experience. If you are sick of heights (like me) you may encounter problems because the path is quite narrow, and the land drops steeply next to the path. It’s not too bad, but also not the perfect experience. In the end, I did manage it, and still think that it is well worth the time and effort.
My photo shows the steep and curvy road that leads to the upper car park. I like the gentle hills and saturated green which is ubiquitous on Skye.
