The story behind the image

This image is part of a bigger lot of cabinet photos and carte de visites (CdVs). At least five images show members of the Schütze and Osswald family in Weimar, Thuringia, Germany.

A handwritten comment on the back of this cabinet photo by Karl Blau in Weimar mentions the name Gertud Osswald and the event Confirmation 1917. This information was a good starting point for some research. Here’s what I could find out about Mrs. Osswald.

At the time of writing, it was unclear to me whether she got married, or whether she had kids. Yet, I hope this information is useful for researchers of the Schütze / Osswald families in Thuringia. If you need a copy of the image, please feel free to contact me.

Oh, and yes, I like the portrait.
