The story behind the image
I found this photo in the family archive, taken on a beautiful day in December 1952 from the Kranzberg, high above Mittenwald in the Bavarian Alps in Germany.
Apparently, they had taken the lift from Mittenwald to the Kranzberg and did a hike through the snow.
I like this photo for its well-balanced grey tones. It’s amazing that despite being a black-and-white photo, the beauty of that day shows, at least a little bit. Just imagine the blue sky, the bright white snow, and the dark green of the trees.
The two heavy scratches in the top right are bad but I think the image is still worth sharing.
