The story behind the image
In the summer of 2023, the Dutch tall ship Loth Loriën offered short trips on the Baltic Sea, departing from Grömitz in Germany. These two-hour trips are perfect for those who just want to experience sailing as it used to be. (And yes, it’s a beautiful experience, especially when the weather conditions allow for shutting off the engine and just move by the power of the wind.)
In my image, the ship returns from a late afternoon trip. It was illuminated by the deep sun which was casting long shadows onto the beach. The beach itself was empty for a moment so I got my shot. (Never mind the spectators on the pier, haha.)
The result: a stunning picture of the beach and the sea pier with a lot of maritime atmosphere.
Lovely.
