The story behind the image
From Ballater in Scotland we followed the River Muick down south towards the Spittal of Glen Muick Car Park. From there, it’s just a short (about 1 Mile) and easy hike to Loch Muick. Somewhere along the scenic road we stopped for a break to enjoy the unspoilt nature of the valley.
And there – I can’t say where, exactly – it was: a single tree on the edge of a hill. It was a beautiful sign of hope in an otherwise hostile environment. It must have withstood years of snow, wind, rain, and animals, and had yet survived.
I think it is a good match for my Lonely Tree Series – and for this time of the year.
