The story behind the image
Earlier today I shared an image of TÖN4, a traditional fish trawler at the German North Sea coast. Here is another photo of Tönning, the beautiful town at the river Eider which is close enough to the North Sea to operate a harbour where you can still see the (few) fish trawlers coming home in the late morning, offloading their daily catch.
This photo shows the market place in the town center which is overtowered by the church St. Laurentius and surrounded by several smaller buildings that are typical for the region. Fortunately, Tönning could preserve its heritage and presents itself today mostly unchanged from the past.
