The story behind the image
The people of the United States have voted for their new (old) president, and as the upcoming president will be of the Republican Party, the political wind is likely to change. So, I think it is a good opportunity to share this image from our 2003 trip to the States.
We were at the Coit Tower in San Francisco and enjoyed the stunning view across the bay. One of the beautiful (and expensive) homes sat between my location and the waterfront. The national flag of the United States of America, the Stars and Stripes Banner, had been put up, but it was (sadly) blowing into the wrong direction, resulting in a reversed (mirrored) look of the flag. I would have loved to show it correctly. But then again, now is a good time to share that image. 🙂
Whatever the results of the elections mean for Europe and the rest of the world, I continue to admire the Americans – for being American. They’ve got the desire for individual freedom deeply embedded in their history and DNA, believing in themselves and the liberty of the society.
Awesome.
