The story behind the image
Sardinia is always good for a surprise. In the center of the island we drove on the Strada Provinciale 10 – a really small road – and approached the T-crossing with the (bigger) Strada Statale 198 that connects Isili and Lanusei.
I was surprised to see the ruins of a large building – a Lost Place if you want –, most likely a former farmhouse or possibly a restaurant. A large sign on the wall used to announce the road distances in the past. Now some letters and figures were missing but the key information was still visible.
The late morning sun still created long shadows which made the building look almost nice. For me it was easy to imagine how it might have looked like in the past, well-maintained and busy.
A quick research on Google Streetview shows that the building has detoriated some more since 2010 and that my photo would be impossible to shoot today, because someone has planted a number of trees, probably to obstruct the ruins.
