The story behind the image
In Namibia, we stopped enroute C14 at the Kuiseb Bridge to admire the canyon. And to get some rest because the gravel road (before and after the bridge) was really bad. The lanes were deep – almost too deep for our Volkswagen Polo Classic – and every now and then the gravel would hit the underside of the poor car.
With a bit a lot of envy we watched as this sturdy Landrover Defender entered the narrow bridge. I thought this would be a cool image, also thanks to the symmetry and reduced color set.
In the end, we made it slowly and safely to our lodge that night, but we learned once more: when traveling to southern Africa – rent a robust 4×4! And if cost is an issue, look at renting a used 4×4.
