The story behind the image

On 15th September 2000 we slowly (and sadly!) realized that our three weeks in Italy were coming to an end soon. In the morning we had enjoyed the view of the Adriatic Sea at Sirolo, and now we were in Ravenna, a busy city in Northern Italy. After a couple of weeks on the countryside it felt strange to be in a city again.

The Piazza del Populo features several historic buildings from the 15th century as well as cafés and restaurants. The sunset was approaching, and the building of the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (now BNL BNP Paribas) with its clocktower was beautifully illuminated.
