The story behind the image
This photo of our 2022 trip to Bellaria Igea Marina, a fishing village near Rimini in Italy shows a long exposure (32 seconds!) of the harbour at night. The village has been a popular summer destination for decades now but it has not cut off his heritage (yet) and still has a working harbour. It had been a wonderful, warm evening with no wind at all. Hence, despite the long expsure, the boats show no motion blur. Wow.
For this shot I used the Canon EF-M22mm f/2 STM, a tiny ‘pancake lens’. The 22 mm focal length suggests a super-wide angle, but this is somewhat compensated by the 1.6 crop factor of the sensor. Consequently, images taken with this lens look more like a moderate wide-angle of 35 mm focal length on a full frame body.
Lovely.
