The story behind the image
Despite me being rather tall (6’5″), we had booked a small four door sedan car for our USA trip in 2003. We thought that it wouldn’t be too bad and wanted to save some money in order to stay a bit longer and make this long trip truly unforgettable.
However, when we picked up the car at the Avis rental station in San Francisco, the service agent looked us, shook her head and said something like: “Oh, you’re soo tall. I’m afraid the car you’ve booked won’t work too well for you.” And then she provided us a free upgrade to the next category.
We got this white Pontiac Grand Am sedan car, and we were extemely happy with it.
Exactly 21 years ago we drove up to the Glan Canyon dam and parked the car next to Lake Powell. The white body of the car contrasts well with the gravel and the red-brown background.
Very nice.
