The story behind the image
A trip to the seaside is both relaxing and inspiring for me. I grab my camera and just explore the beach and surroundings.
Five years ago, in 2019, I did so at the beach of Bansin, a beautiful village at the German Baltic Sea coast. The long sea pier is still active and is being served by a local shipping company.
The Adler XI was one of the ships stopping at the pier, and as I watched it, I remembered to have seen this ship type before. Somewhere, probably in my hometown Kiel. I researched the history of the ship, and bingo! It was part of the fleet on the Kieler Förde from 1971 to 1977. So, it is likely that I saw it already during that period.
Today, it has a different paint (all white, instead of the black and white from its time in Kiel), but it still triggers nice memories.
As always, Wikipedia has the details (in German). But the official homepage of the current owners is nice too.
