The story behind the image

The saying goes: “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.” – In this case, we wanted to do as the tourists do. We climbed up to the Basilica San Pietro, one of the key attractions in Rome, along with the Piazza di San Pietro right in front of it. When entering the Piazza, you are already on the grounds of the fully independent Vatican City (or Stato della Città del Vaticano)!

From the top, we enjoyed the 360° view over Rome. This is the view across the gardens towards West, with the Palazzo del Governatorato dello Stato della Città del Vaticano in the front and the Collegio Etiopico right behind.

An awesome location.
