The story behind the image
Yep. We’ve done it again. We spent about two weeks in Bellaria Igea Marina near Rimini in Italy. And I ran in the morning. And when I did not run in the mornings I walked to the beach with my Canon EOS M6 Mark II to enjoy the Blue Hour and sunrise.
This time I tried a super long exposure with the widest angle I have for the M6: an 11 mm focal length. It behaves like a 17 mm lens on a full frame body, though, so it’s not that wide. 🙂
Anyway. That morning was very nice, because I was the first one at the tip of the Molo di Ponente. This enabled me to shoot the long exposure without anyone next to me, or on the pier on the opposite side.
The long exposure time blurred all the gentle waves on the Mediterranean Sea, creating that ice-like look. More magic is added by the first sunlight that illuminates the horizon, without the sun actually showing.
It’s noteworthy that this image is almost straight from the camera with just very few edits.
Lovely.
