The story behind the image
You’re not going to travel to Rome and not see the Piazza di San Pietro, right? And, strictly speaking, it does not even belong to Italy, because it is already located on the grounds of the fully independent Vatican City. The Piazza was built from 1656 to 1667 by Bernini who was quite active in Rome. And this is rightly regarded as his masterpiece. Today the place can take up to 60,000 believers.
My image shows the columns that line the Piazza on its southern side. I like the way the statues are illuminated by the sunlight, the interesting angle with some green trees in the back, and the clear blue sky. A lot of copyspace for those who need it.
A beautiful location.
