The story behind the image
We had visited the Joshua Tree National Park in California earlier that day and were now enroute to Kingman in Arizona. Via Vidal Junction, Topock, and Oatman.
The first part of the drive was uneventful, with desert surrounding us for most of the time. Then we approached Vidal Junction. We didn’t know what to expect, but it turned out to be – a junction! In the middle of nowhere. A petrol station, a café, a mini-mart, a pickup truck, a lorry and the junction.
We drank a coffee at the Vidal Junction Café and then continued our drive. It was late in the afternoon, and we wanted to reach Kingman before sunset.
