The story behind the image

Over Pentecost 2016 we spent two weeks at the Italian Adriatic Sea. Usually, we’d drive all the way from Munich to the seaside (or Lago di Garda) on one day. This time we opted for a stop in Trento in Italy. We wanted to avoid traffic jams and explore the city which is also the name-giver for the region Trentino.

I can honestly say that it’s a pity we did not visit the city before. It combines the best of Italy (especially the warm weather and mood) and Austria. As the city is located in a strategical position – as one of the few gateways between Central and Southern Europe – it has a long and interesting history. Add to that the surrounding mountains and you have the recipe for a really good vacation.

My photo shows the Fontana del Nettuno on the Piazza del Duomo in the center of the city. Here you can also visit the historic Duomo di San Vigilio.

Next time you see the exit for Trento, do not rush by – but take the exit and explore the city!
