The story behind the image

The Italian coast near Rimini (aka as the Adriatic Sea) is a great place to spend your summer vacation. For the past few years we have traveled once a year to Beallaria Igea Marina, a nice village at the coast slightly north of Rimini. There is nothing special about this village, but it has been able to preserve its traditional lifestyle, and this differentiates Bellaria Igea Marina from many other villages along the coast.

The village is alive and kicking, year round, and even when there are just very few tourists around. It has an active fleet of fishing vessels, and everything you might expect from a genuine village or small town (like, a bookstore, several supermarkets and banks, and a train station.)

Of course, once the summer approaches, the village becomes a busy tourist spot.

In 2019, we were in Bellaria Igea Marina for about two weeks over Pentecost, and we massively enjoyed it. On a beautiful Saturday evening we went into the village center. The community had already brought up the illuminated “Summer Park” sign high above the Via Torre.

I captured the mood with my smartphone (which did a surpringly good job.)
