The story behind the image
During our Ireland trip in 1999 we also visited Kinsale in County Cork at the south coast. As we usually do not plan our overnight stays ahead we did not have a pre-booked accommodation for that night. When we were in Kinsale, we regreted this, because it is one of those beautiful spots that just deserve more time. However, all the B&Bs were fully booked that day, and so we just walked around the town center and the harbour area.
I took this photo into the Market Quay street from the harbour, highlighting the many small buildings of the historic town center, with Saint John, the Baptist Roman Catholic Church overtowering everything.
By the way, this location has positively changed: Since 1999, the parking lots for the cars have been removed. Today you need a permit to get into Market Quay, significantly reducing the traffic. The town center is even more nice today.
