The story behind the image
Positano is a jewel at the famous Amalfi coast in Italy. It has been built right onto the rocks of the beautiful coast, and there are countless narrow streets and steep stairs that lead to the houses – and the beach. Parking is a real challenge as there are just very few streets accessible by car, and these are narrow, too. In 2000, we found a parking lot slightly outside of the town. So we walked to the town entrance and slowly made our way to the beach. I remember that it was a cloudy and hot day, so even walking down took a bit of an effort, even more so with my photo equipment.
I shot this wide angle image from the SS-163 high above the town. I think it captures the stunning architecture of the buildings and the steepness of the town. Sadly, the sky was not bright blue but greyish, so the image is just so-so, but I like it anyway.
