The story behind the image
We were excited, and a bit overwhelmed. After a couple of weeks on the rural countryside in Arizona and Utah, we were suddenly in this large city. But we found our hotel, the Treasure Island, quickly, and as soon as we had checked-in we went on a discovery walk. It was late afternoon and the sun produced that soft light that dips the scene in deep, warm orange colors.
At The Venetian we were stunned by the fact that genuine gondolas with genuine gondolieres were cruising on the channels of the hotel. Later we discovered that the gondolas were moved automatically as they were connected to an underwater line that pulled them whatever the gondoliere did (or did not.)
The perfect illusion and quite interesting.
