The story behind the image
Port Hardy at the northern tip of Vancouver Island in British Columbia is the (self-acclaimed) capital of fishing, logging, and mining! It is also the gate towards the islands and northern regions of B.C. and has a busy ferry harbour.
We had boarded the ferry in the morning, and were glad that everything had been working extremely well – from the online reservation months ago to finding the pier (which was not soo difficult) and entering the vessel.
Now we were on the upper deck and waved good-bye to Port Hardy and Vancouver Island. We had had a great time on the island, but now new adventures lay ahead of us.
While we were a bit concerned about the dark clouds that hovered over Port Hardy, the streak of sunshine was giving us hope that the passage towards Bella Coola on the mainland – far away from anywhere – would be fine.
