The story behind the image
During our 2003 trip to the United States, we visited Monument Valley in the late afternoon to capture some high contrast photos of the stunning rock formations – and long shadows. After we explored the valley, we left the visitor center shortly before sunset. On our way out we made a detour to see Grey Whiskers Butte just to wave good-bye.
And there it was – the perfect shot! The sun was about to set and a herd of sheep walked slowly in the desert sand. With the large rock in the back. And some very long shadows.
Very nice.
