The story behind the image
In 1999, we visited the city of Florence in Tuscany, Italy, for an extended weekend. While it was still rather cold in Germany, it was almost summer-like in Tuscany. This enabled us to take long walks to explore the city and its surroundings.
One of the attractions was the Giardino di Boboli, a large park near the city center. It was amazing to just take a few steps from the super busy Ponte Vecchio and find ourselves in relative peace – and among several beautiful sculptures and fountains. What’s more, the shadow thrown by the trees was very welcome on a very warm day.
I took this shot from the top of the long avenue that leads directly to the Fontana del Oceano.
A timeless classic. I love it.
