The story behind the image

For our 2004 trip to South Africa we spent the first couple of nights in the city center of Cape Town to explore the city and get into an African mood for the rest of the trip. After all, this had been our frist trip to sub-Sahara Africa, and we were excited and also a bit nervous about the experience. (Spoiler: The trip turned out to be perfect.)

Here’s my photo of the Cape Town City Hall. I deliberately centered the building in the frame to highlight its impressive appearance. The sky with the large white clouds is nice, too.

By the way, the building is not used as a city hall any longer but is used for public functions. As always, Wikipedia has all the facts.
