The story behind the photo
This photo from our family archive shows my mother Inga (14, left) and her mother Edith at the beach in St.-Peter-Ording in Germany. They wore stylish clothes with baseball caps which were probably new in Northern Germany at the time. Then again, the family business – two beachwear and undergarment stores in Kiel – was doing well thanks to Edith’s ability to identify new trends.
