The story behind the image
In 2003, we spent two nights at the southern rim of the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. The weather had been perfect for the past couple of days, and so we were able to experience the national park perfectly.
For photos, the morning and the late afternoons are best because the shadows add depth and help visualizing the enormous size of the canyon and surrounding rocks. I think I took this photo near Mather Point in the late afternoon. I placed the platform and the people deliberately into the top left corner to act as a visual scale: the people look tiny, dwarfed by the massive canyon that occupies most of the image.
