The story behind the image
The Piazza del Populo in Rome is a huge gathering place near the city center. On normal days, just a few tourists and busy locals walk across the place. In the center of the Piazza stands an obelisk that dates back to 1250 BC. Originally, it stood in front of the sun temple and was brought to Rome by Emperor Augustus. At first it decortaed the Circus Maximus, but then it was moved to the Piazza in the 16th century.
At the foot of the obelisk is a fountain that is garnered by four fountain heads that look like lions that relentlessly spray the refreshing cold water into the basin.
