The story behind the image
In 2006, I attended the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, and it was my first time in this awesome, vibrant city. One evening, I decided to take a guided tour in the late afternoon.
Before entering the tour bus at the Palau Nacional, I took this terrific shot from the Mirador Barcelona right in front of the museum, overlooking the fairgrounds and large parts of the city. The last sunlight was streaming in from the left, and I deliberately placed the sculpture in the frame to cover the setting sun. The result is a very dominant sculpture with a harsh contrast – almost just a sharp outline – against a blue sky and some golden sunlight in the back.
Lovely.
