The story behind the image
The original Highway Number 1 at the west coast of the United States is full of magical places. As a photographer you want to stop at so many points that you can easily spend a whole week just for the relatively short leg between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Pigeon Point Lighthouse, just 28 Miles north-west of Santa Cruz, is one of these places. Situated far away from any town, it offers the tranquility and beauty that makes you calm down and forget whatever plagues you at home.
The lighthouse, built in 1872, is one of the tallest lighthouses (115 ft) on the West Coast. While still being intact, it serves as a youth hostel today.
