The story behind the image
In his spare time, my father had acquired a motorboat license and had even been giving training courses to others to prepare for the motorboat license test. That’s why he rented a boat every now and enjoyed a trip for a day on the Baltic Sea near Kiel.
This photo shows my mother during one of those trips. During the 1970s she had found peace. She was happy with her husband and our small family, and the economic situation had improved, too. At least the challenging times of the late 1960s were clearly gone.
In the summer of 1977, she had turned 35, and I love the fact that you can see her happiness in this image.
She was born on the 2nd July 1942, and today she would have celebrated her 82nd brithday. Thinking of you.
