The story behind the image
The drive to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe took us about 90 minutes from the Chobe Safari Lodge in Kasane, Botsuana, including border crossing. While the drive was uneventful, the experience of the thundering waterfalls was truly exciting.
But we also took our time to explore the town of Victoria Falls. It appeared to us that tourism has brought economical growth as there were many stores offering souvenirs but also supermarkets. The nearby border crossing to Zambia is also important for the people.
Most impressive for us, however, was certainly The Victoria Falls Hotel near the National Park. It’s a luxury hotel in a historical victorian building from 1904. We visited the hotel and were just amazed by the entry hall and gardens. Everything was well maintained and like a step into a different period of time. Of course, the hotel has demanding guests who expect this kind of quality.
