The story behind the image
We arrived in Plettenberg Bay in the afternoon and headed straight for our accommodation, the La Vista Lodge at Rosheen Cresc. It was located high above the eastern part of the town. It was not close to the beaches and off the downtown buzz. However, we had picked the lodge for the beautiful views it provided (as per their advertising) across Keurboomstrand and the bay.
I still remember the moment when the owners brought us to our room. The moment we entered their garden was a truly jaw-dropping moment because we saw the view shown in the photo. Just like the ad, but real. We just stood there for a moment, stunned.
I understand that over the past two decades the view has changed slightly due to storms hitting the Keurboomstrand and re-shaping it. Also, ownership of the lodge has changed. However, it seems the new owners have significantly improved the (already good) property. From looking at the pictures on their website at the time of writing, I think it’s even “more wow” now.
Do not miss out Plettenberg Bay when visiting the Garden Route in South Africa.
