The story behind the image
Let’s start the week with this unusual shot that I took during my very first genuine holiday trip in 1987. I was just 21 and had a couple of weeks to spend, so my girlfriend and I drove all the way from Northern Germany to the Algarve in Portugal.
Somewhere in the region, probably near Armação de Pêra, I spotted this white wall. I was immediately attracted to the geometrical pattern I saw. I placed the wall with its vertical line directly in the center of the image and positioned the lower and the upper horizontal lines in a way that they divided the blue sky quite evenly. As a bonus, the left side of the wall had a curvy top which added a (tiny) eye catcher.
Sadly, I lost the negatives of this trip over the years, but I had a good print for scanning. And I still like the result. The image itself has no deeper meaning, yet I’d call it a piece of art. 🙂
