The story behind the image

Our 2004 sailing trip brought us to Sønderburg, a vibrant town in Southern Denmark. This photo shows the harbour in the city center which is situated along the street Sønder Havnegade with its several historic buildings.

Sønderburg had been a very pleasant stay for us. The weather had been calm and warm, and we were exploring the historic town center with its rich history and small streets. There is even a castle that is still being used by the Danish royal family today. And if you want to take a bath, there is a small beach.

We stayed at the yacht harbour Sønderborg Lystbådehavn which is just within walking distance from the city center. Nice, very nice.

Transparency notice: In the original slide there was a huge crane that overtowered the historic buildings of Sønder Havnegade. I removed this object to achieve a clean look.
