The story behind the image
Every now and then, the Isar river that flows through Munich in Germany, gets flooded. This can happen when strong rain in the Alps coincidences with a strong snow melt.
This happened, for example, around Pentecost 1999 and completely changed the appearance of the Isar in the city center of Munich during the flood. But, of course, it was quite a sight, and so I headed for the river – along with other photographers as it turned out – to capture the scene in photos.
