The story behind the image
We spent a week in Paris to explore the city, and walking up the Eiffel Tower was our goal one morning. Well, well, the tower is probably among the most photographed buildings in the world, so what could I possibly do? We had booked our slot for visiting the platforms 1 and 2 (using the stairs) way in advance, and so we did not have a choice concerning the weather, and promptly it started to rain once we started our ascent.
But I realized that the covered sky was actually a good thing for this shot. The lack of blue color highlights the color of the structure – which I would describe as a mix of dark brown and orange. So I placed the structure into the frame in a way that the main lines pointed towards the corners of the image.
The result: An attractive eyecatcher that invites the viewer to take a closer look.
