The story behind the image
Here’s another photo from one of my best trips ever. I had completed my civil service in Germany (as a First Responder) and had a bit of money and a lot of time. And so my girlfriend and I decided to spend six to eight weeks in Portugal.
First, we explored the Algarve region in the south. On our long way back to Germany we did a stop-over in Lisbon for a couple of days. The hotel was a budget hotel back in 1988 but the location near the city center was perfect for us.
This photo shows the beautiful Avenida da Liberdade towards the Praça dos Restauradores. The street was not in a good condition back in 1988, and the cars were (obviously) from the 1970s and 1980s. The Avenida has been repaired by now, and the trees have grown significantly over the past 36 years. They now provide nice shadows which certainly is welcome during hot summer days.
