The story behind the image
San Francisco is an eye-feast for photographers.
I shot this image from the tip of Pier 39 at Fisherman’s Wharf across San Francisco Bay. The key attraction is clearly Oakland Bay Bridge with its never ending streams of cars and trucks driving on two levels! On the left is Yerba Buena Island, and in the back the giant Oakland International Container Terminal.
For this shot I probably used the 300 mm tele lens. You might think that I applied weird coloring to the image in post production, but no – the original slide shows a similar color shift that reduces the image to mostly blue and cyan tones, and I love it the way it is.
