The story behind the image
Here’s an image from our 2002 trip to British Columbia. We stayed at the Paradise Seashell Motel in Parksville, at the east coast of Vancouver Island. It was a pragmatic, affordable choice before we were hopping over to the west coast the next morning.
The motel was situated right next to the main street (and former highway) and not fancy by any means. In the evening we took a walk to one of the restaurants and explored the surroundings after the meal. The evening sky was preparing for the sunset but the sun would be setting behind us. Eeek! No sunset picture over the Strait of Georgia then. (Of course, I had anticipated this, but still I would have loved to get a decent sunset shot here.)
Then I realized that the sky was awesome. Countless sheep-like clouds had formed over the water, beautifully illuminated by the setting sun somewhere behind us. I picked the 20 mm wide angle lens for a more dramatic look and attributed most of the space to the sky.
Lovely.
