The story behind the image
Access to the Lago Maggiore is shared by two countries: Italy in the South and Switzerland in the North. We stayed for a week on the Swiss side in Brissago, which is just a short drive away from the Italian border. The area is called Ticino and combines the best of two worlds: You get the Swiss accuracy and Italian lifestyle.
I took this photo from high above the town where the streets are steep and curvy – but you can achieve a birds perspective.
I like the way the tall tower of the historic Chiesa della Madonna di Ponte dominates the bottom of the image, almost like a sword that protects against intruders, while the magnificent Lago Maggiore acts as a stunning backdrop.
This image is pretty versatile. You can easily chop off the top and leave just the lake and the town, and it’s still stunning. The top now has plenty of copyspace for those who need it.

Lovely.
