The story behind the image

We proceeded from Tarbert to Kintyre and discovered Skipness Castle, right at the end of the B8001. It was built in the 13th century by the MacSweens and was used as a stronghold against the Vikings. In 1499, it was turned over to The Campbell Earl of Argyll and finally abandoned in the 17th century. We visited the ruins, which was admission free in 2005.

The view from Skipness Castle was beautiful despite the sky being covered by dark clouds. On our way back to the car park we decided to take a break at the Seafood Cabin. Back then, it was located in the white shack that can be seen in front of the building on the photo, next to the Skipness Castle Estate. Their fresh crab rolls were absolutely fantastic.

Yummy!
