The story behind the image
Right next to Pier 39 at Fisherman’s Wharf we discovered the Sea Lion Rocks of San Francisco. Nobody knows exactly why they were there, but they seemed to like it. Despite being loud and rather smelly they looked wonderful that day. they cuddled and apparently had a good time on the floats next to the pier.
I composed this image so that only sea lions are visible in the picture, nothing else. (Admittedly, if you inspect the photo closely you may see some places where the floats can be seen.)
I really like this image.
